Where to see the beautiful Jacaranda trees in Sydney

I visited Sydney right after my volunteer work, it was the end of October. The city was adorned with the breathtaking sight of purple Jacaranda trees in full bloom. This is a late blog post and the Jacaranda season has already passed. However, you can save this information for next year’s season. Witnessing an entire area covered in their vibrant purple hue is a unique experience. If you’re interested in visiting such places, here are some locations that I had the pleasure of exploring this year.

Royal Botanical Garden

I had a stroll through the Royal Botanical Garden, which is located in the heart of Sydney. The garden was alive with the vibrant hues of flowers, and the air was filled with the sweet fragrance of blooming flowers.

As I continued my walk, I couldn’t help but notice that there were only a few jacaranda trees in the garden, which was a bit unexpected. However, I soon discovered that the garden offered one of the best vantage points for capturing a picture-perfect view of the iconic Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge. The view was simply breathtaking, and I spent several minutes taking in the stunning panorama of the harbor.

Despite the lack of jacaranda trees, I found the Royal Botanical Garden to be a truly serene place. The garden is home to a wide variety of plant species, including rare and exotic specimens from around the world. It is also a popular destination for birdwatchers, who come to observe the many species of birds that call the garden home.

Milson Park

Kirribilli, North Sydney is one of the most popular places to see Jacaranda trees in full bloom. The area is known for its stunning display of purple flowers that cover the trees during the spring season. If you’re walking towards Circular Quay ferry stations, you’ll also come across some Jacaranda trees near the area.

To get to Kirribilli, I took a ferry from Circular Quay and got off at North Sydney. From there, it was just a 7-minute walk to the park. The park is located on a hill, which offers a great view of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House.

Unlike the Jacaranda tree in the Royal Botanical Garden, there were a lot of trees in this area. Everyone is trying to get a perfect Instagram photo, so be prepared for crowds. The trees are aligned on both sides of the road, which makes it look like a purple tunnel. However, cars are passing by, so be careful when taking pictures here.

Overall, Kirribilli is a great place to visit if you want to see the beautiful Jacaranda trees in full bloom. The area is easily accessible by ferry or train, and there are plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby if you want to grab a bite to eat.

Riley Street

If you’re looking for a less crowded place to take photos, I recommend checking out Riley Street. I discovered this area while exploring the neighborhood around my hotel. Despite being less crowded, it still has plenty of blooming trees, making it a great spot for taking pictures.

Other Locations

Unfortunately, due to time constraints, I was unable to visit all the places on my list during my stay. However, I did manage to compile a list of the remaining places that I had planned to visit. This list will serve as a useful reference for future trips or visits to the area.

Grafton Jacaranda Festival

Every year in Grafton, a vibrant and colorful Jacaranda Festival takes place. This festival is a celebration of the town’s beautiful Jacaranda trees, and it attracts people from all over the region. During the festival, visitors can enjoy a variety of activities such as live music performances, art exhibitions, bustling markets, and much more. It’s a fantastic opportunity to experience the local culture and have a great time with family and friends. I’ll love to visit this place someday!
