Victoria Harbour Walk: Scenic Hong Kong Stroll for Families

If you’re looking for an easy, family-friendly walk in Hong Kong that’s perfect for both kids and elders, I’ve got just the thing for you! After taking my parents on a few hikes, they started experiencing some knee pain. So, we decided to switch gears and explore flat, relaxing walks instead. That’s how we discovered the Victoria Harbour Walk—a scenic promenade that offers the best of Hong Kong’s breathtaking harbor views.

We’ve strolled along parts of the promenade before, but this was our first time walking the full stretch from Kennedy Town to North Point. The views were absolutely stunning, and it felt like we were rediscovering the city all over again. I’m not sure if this walk has an official name, but for this post, I’ll refer to it as the Victoria Harbour Walk.

Overview of the Victoria Harbour Walk

This walk is about 10.5 kilometers long and took us around 3.5 hours to complete. We started at Belcher Bay Promenade in Kennedy Town and ended at East Coast Boardwalk in North Point, but you can always do it in reverse or stop at any point along the way.

There are two main reasons why I loved this walk: it’s convenient (easy access to MTR stations) and scenic (uninterrupted views of the harbor). Along the way, we stopped at 9 key spots, which I’ve listed below. Let’s dive in!

Why You Should Get an Octopus Card

Before we get into the details of the walk, let’s talk about the Octopus card—an essential item for anyone visiting Hong Kong. This rechargeable smart card is widely used for public transportation, including the MTR, buses, and ferries. It can also be used to pay at convenience stores, restaurants, and even vending machines.

If you’re planning to do the Victoria Harbour Walk, an Octopus card will make your trip much smoother. Since many of the key stops are near MTR stations, you can easily hop on and off the train if you decide to shorten the walk or explore nearby areas. Plus, it saves you from the hassle of carrying loose change.

You can purchase an Octopus card at the Hong Kong International Airport, MTR stations, or convenience stores like 7-Eleven and Circle K. For tourists, the Tourist Octopus Card is a great option, as it comes with preloaded credit and refunds any unused balance when you leave Hong Kong.
